University General Library Borrowing and Returning

lending

Please bring the materials and your user card to the borrowing and returning counter and complete the procedure.
Returned materials cannot be borrowed on the same day. They will be borrowed from the following day onwards.
Please do not lend or sub-lend your borrowed materials or library card to others, as this may result in late payment or loss.

Number of books available for loan and period

*Short-term international students, citizens' course participants, etc.

Materials that cannot be borrowed

  • Reference books (those with a no-borrow sticker attached)
  • Rare Books
  • Magazines and newspapers
  • Audiovisual materials *However, they may be loaned out to faculty for use in their classes.

return

Please be sure to return the item to the borrowing/return counter by the due date.
When the library is closed, please place items in the return post (in front of the entrance University General Library or inside the Crystal Terrace on the East Campus).
Please note that if you return the item late, it will become overdue and you will not be able to borrow it for a certain period of time depending on the number of days it is returned.

reservation

If the material you want to use is currently on loan, you can reserve it for later use as soon as it is returned.

To make a reservation

  • In MyLibrary
    You can make reservations by logging in to MyLibrary on the OPAC.
  • At the counter
    Please print out the book details from the OPAC and complete the procedure at the Borrowing and Return Desk.
    We will contact you as soon as the reserved material has been returned, so please complete the loan procedure within the storage period (10 days).

You cannot make a reservation in the following cases:

  • During the exam period
  • During the penalty period
  • Overdue materials

recall

Materials that full-time staff (faculty members) have borrowed for more than 14 days can be borrowed temporarily for 14 days.
Please complete the procedure at the rental/return counter.

  • Only undergraduate and Osaka Sangyo University Graduate School can apply for recall.
  • The loan period is 14 days, including the reservation period.
  • This service is not available during exam periods or long vacation rental periods.
  • Recalls are limited to one time only. (Further recalls are not permitted.)
  • Applications cannot be made through MyLibrary. Please make sure to apply at the library counter.

To those who have received a recall request

  • If a recall is requested, you will be notified.
  • Please bring it to the library counter as soon as possible.
  • When you receive the item, please let us know if you would like it reused.
  • We will notify you when recalled materials are available for reuse.

We ask for your cooperation in student learning, research and study activities.

Extension of loan period

If you wish to continue borrowing the material, you can extend the loan period once.

To extend

  • In MyLibrary
    You can extend your period by logging in to MyLibrary on the OPAC.
  • At the counter
    Please bring the material you wish to extend before its due date and complete the procedure at the lending counter.

You cannot extend your stay in the following cases:

  • During the exam period
  • Another user has reserved
  • During the penalty period
  • Overdue materials

Overdue

If you return the item late, you will be penalized and will not be able to borrow the item for the number of days it is late.
Please return it as soon as possible as it will cause inconvenience to other users.
